Our staff of qualified instructors will make your learning experience enjoyable and fun. The Ski School offers the ATS (American Teaching System) approach for beginner skiers and snowboarders in a group, semi-private and private lessons. A lesson from the Mt. Crescent Ski School is the best way to learn!

New this year, our "Station Rotation" method of teaching.  Our 3 stations will teach you the basic one, two, three's of skiing or snowboarding!  And if you don't get it the first time, don't worry, just jump back in and try it again!  Only $5. per person & no reservation required!

Station Rotation Lesson
  • $5. per person 
  • Must be at least 9 years of age.
  • Each station is approximately 10 minutes.
  • This is a basic skill lesson for first time skiers & snowboarders, this does not replace the advance instruction of a private lesson.
Ski and Snowboard Private and Semi-Private Lessons
1 1/2 Hour Lesson 
Private Lesson……………..........…$55.00
One on one private instruction - Recommended for the best learning experiance.
Semi-Private Lesson.......................$35.00
Each additional person of like ability up to 8 persons.
Private Lesson Times

Wed. & Thurs. - 2:00pm - 5:00pm (last lesson at 5pm)  - Reservations Required for Private Lessons Wed. & Thurs.

Fri., Sat., Sun. & Holidays  - 9:30am, 11:00am, 12:30pm, 2:00pm 3:30pm, 5:00pm (last lesson at 5pm) 

  • Please give yourself enough time to be fitted for equipment.

Reservations

Reservations for a private lesson is recommended and can be made by calling the ski hill at 712-545-3850.  To place your reservation prepayment is required by credit card.  Prepaid reservations are non- refundable.  Lessons start and finish promptly at the reserved time; so make sure to show up early to receive your full lesson.  We recommend that you arrive well in advance to purchase your ticket, fill out the necessary paperwork and get fitted for your rental equipment.  All people taking a lesson must perchase a lift ticket.    

Little Shredders Program

A 3 HOUR GROUP SKIING LESSON FOR AGES 3 – 8

Every Saturday 10:30am-1:30pm Starting Dec. 31st, until the end of the season!

Package Prices (Includes Lift Ticket, Ski Equipment Rental, Lesson, Lunch)

  • 3 Hour Package - With Rental       $75 per student (+tax)
  • 3 Hour Package - With own Equipment  $65 per student (+tax)

Lesson Structure (to include 2 breaks and a lunch)

  • Round kids up and help them get their boots on
  • Do indoor exercises to work on creating a wedge and balance with boots on
  • Move kids outside and start walking them around with single skis on
  • Walk them around some obstacles with both skis on
  • Talk about safety and importance of being in control
  • Start working on straight runs with a flat run out
  • Work on the wedge stance and correct body position
  • Have the kids go down a gentle slope in a snowplow/wedge
  • Coloring time, ski/safety themed coloring pages
  • Get kids back out and work on their snowplow/wedge
  • Introduce turns using obstacles
  • Bring kids back inside to the “meeting place” and give them stickers/stamps

Need to know…

  • Reservations preferred but not required, however; space is limited so reservations are suggested to guarantee your spot.
  • Program starts promptly at 10:30am.
  • Please check in at the front desk to sign registration form, rental form & waiver.
  • Please dress your child appropriately for winter activities.
  • No refunds. If cancellation occurs due to Mt. Crescent closing due to weather, we will reschedule.

KNOW THE CODE

SKIER'S RESPONSIBILITY CODE:

There are elements of risk that common sense and personal awareness can help reduce.

1. Ski under control and in such a manner you can stop or avoid other skiers or objects.

2. When skiing downhill or overtaking another skier, you must avoid the skier below you.

3. You must not stop where you obstruct a trail or are not visible from above.

4. When entering a trail or starting downhill, yield to other skiers.

5. All skiers shall wear retention straps or other devices to help prevent runaway skis.

6. You shall keep off closed trails and posted areas and observe all posted signs.

ATTENTION: Be aware of changing conditions. Natural and manmade obstacles exist. Snowmaking and grooming activities are routinely in progress on slopes and trails Use caution, ski in control and ski only on designated slopes or trails.
