2010 Big Red Slope Style & Big Air Competition...& Junior Downhill Information

EVENT INFORMATION

Mt. Crescent Ski Area is proud to team up with the University of Nebraska Lincoln Ski & Snowboard Club to bring you the 2010 Big Red Slope Style & Big Air Competition.  The event is open to everyone that has the desire to compete. 

The event will take place on Sun. Feb. 21, 2010.  Registration hours are 8-10am with events and awards to follow. 

All participants must fill out a registration form and a Mt. Crescent waiver. 

COMPETITION FORMAT

There will be three competitions at Mt. Crescent Ski Area.  These events will be a Slope Style Freestyle, a Big Air Freestyle (both are open to snowboarders & skiers and will be held in the Terrain Park on the Jaws Run) and the Junior Downhill, which will be held on the Showboat Run.

SLOPE STYLE FREESTYLE

The Slope Style Freestyle event is open to both snowboarders & skiers and will be judged on the tricks performed, motion and rotation, "AIR" amplitude, transition, and form during competition. Each athlete will receive two (2) rides through the course. 
The best score of the two jumps will determine the winner within each age class. 

BIG AIR FREESTYLE  

The Big Air Freestyle event is open to both snowboarders & skiers and will be judged on the tricks performed, motion and rotation, "AIR" amplitude, transition, and form during the competition. Each athlete will receive two (2) jumps.

The best score of the two jumps will determine the winner within each age class. 

JUNIOR DOWNHILL - Olympic Style Ski Race

This "fun race" is open to both skiers and snowboarders.  It will consist of approx. 10 gates +/-, ran individually for time.  Each participant will race twice.  The best time from the two runs will be taken.  The best time within each age group will be the winner.

The age classes for this race will be 4-6, 7-9, 10-12.

RULES

International Snowboard Association and United States Ski Association rules will apply. 

ATHLETES ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR and NO INVERTED TRICKS shall be allowed during competition.  Any athlete who attempts to perform inverted tricks shall be disqualified. 

RUNNING ORDER

The running order in all classes will be as follows:  Junior Downhill 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, Slope Style 8-13, 14-18, 19+, Big Air 8-13, 14-18, 19+.  The running order within each age division will be alphabetical for all pre-registered racers.  Same day registrants will be seeded at the end of their respective age classes.  Same day registrants must check-in at the registration area to receive an information packet and a race number.

AWARDS

Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each event and age class. Awards ceremonies will follow the event in the Lodge as soon as the judges tabulate the scoring.

LIFT TICKETS

Each athlete must purchase a lift ticket.  Lift tickets can be purchased the day of competition at 50% off the regular rate (plus tax)
